The Story
Definition
Anthropomorphism in Industrial Design involves incorporating human-like characteristics into non-human objects and products. This approach makes products more relatable, engaging, and user-friendly by fostering emotional connections with users.
Reference
In "Emotional Design," Don Norman cites the BMW Mini Cooper as an example of a product where its fun aesthetics and driving experience lead a reviewer to suggest that its faults can be overlooked.

I often find myself expressing gratitude towards inanimate objects for their service. I thank my car for a safe journey home, and my 3D printer for successfully completing an overnight print.

Humans are inherently social creatures who naturally form emotional connections, not just with each other but also with non-living things. This connection or bond can often be profound.
The Concept
Inspired by this idea, I designed "Dave," a friendly home dresser characterized by cheerful eyes, a lush mustache, and a wide smile. If we can personify sockets and cars with facial features, why not extend this to a dresser?
